What exactly is MusicStream?
It’s a digital music service designed to help businesses meet the challenge of sourcing and controlling their music. When MusicStream is used exclusively no PRS or PPL fees are payable, because the music is rights inclusive.read more iconMore

What hardware and technology do I need?
No special hardware is needed. MusicStream is delivered via software downloaded onto any Windows/Mac PC or laptop and many Android tablets. So long as you have an internet connection, a computer, and an audio system (amp and speakers), you can use MusicStream. If you have speciallist installation needs contact us on 0844 8010 710 and we can advise. read more iconMore

What does 'rights inclusive' mean?
If a composer or composition and recording artist / recording are not registered with any collection societies (in the U.K. it’s the PRS and PPL respectively), then the resulting music is 'rights inclusive' meaning no licence is required for public performance.read more iconMore

What music can I play through MusicStream?
You can play any track in the MusicStream catalogue of rights inclusive music. This ensures all the music you play is rights inclusive so you don't have to pay PRS or PPL fees. You can't play your personal music (i.e CD's, downloads or music services like Spotify/Napster) otherwise the service would no longer be rights inclusive and you would be liable for public performance licenses.

Can I stop paying PRS and / or PPL immediately?
Once you have subscribed to the MusicStream service you can notify the PRS in writing asking for a refund for the remainder of your license period [less 28 days notice]. Unfortunately the PPL refuse to give refunds, unless your license was purchased within the last 14 days. We can provide you with a standard letter to inform the PRS and PPL of your licence-free status and exempt you from paying for their licences.

Can I carry on playing the radio and still avoid paying PRS / PPL?
No, because playing the radio to staff or customers constitutes a public performance, and practically all tracks played on radio require a PRS and PPL licence. Even if you only play the radio to staff in a back-office office for example, you would still need a specific PRS and PPL licence to cover this.read more iconMore

Can I play different playlists in different areas of my premises?
Yes, we call this zoning. Our Central Control software can be used to create and control multiple players within one site. This ends up being a cheaper alternative to buying expensive sound cards with multiple outputs.

What if we don’t like a track?

Simply press the disable button next to the relevant and it will be removed from the playlist until you turn it back on. If you really like a track, you can hear it more often by clicking the frequency stars.

How much does it cost and what is the contract term?

The standard charge is £12 per site per month (ex VAT) for our 12 month agreement. There is also a 3 month option for businesses wanting an extended trial. Certain additional services, such as zoning incur a small incremental charge. For full details see the features and pricing section or talk to our sales team.

Can I have a listen to the music first?
You can listen to some sample music here or take a 28 day free trial open to any business. The trial gives you access to our full player and the entire music catalogue, so you know exactly what you are getting.

Can my business be invoiced and pay via bank transfer rather than via the website?
Yes. If you sign up via the website you can opt for this. If we sign you up over the phone or otherwise on your behalf, you will be offered this as an option.

Can I pay in monthly installments?
Yes there is a recurring payment option if you pay with a card, but you would still enter into a 12 month agreement.

Can MusicStream make me some custome playlists?
Just call us on 02030966015 and we can discuss your requirements. We can refer you to our authorised service partners who can develop a bespoke audio brand for your business, as well as the ability to mangage sites centrally, use in-store messaging and deliver it though secure hardware.

Can you manage installation and training across my business?
We send a step-by-step installation guide via email when you sign up, and are at the end of the phone to help with any problems, but because it’s so simple to install in a small business site, we leave installation and training up to you. For larger or more complex businesses, we tailor our service and support to meet the needs of the customer, and will be as hands on as required in cooperation with our authorised partners.

Can I arrange to get a demo in my office?
Yes just call, or you can download a trial player from the website.
